Administration Denounces 'Democrat Hoax' as Further Jeffrey Epstein Images Released
Democratic lawmakers have made public a additional set of what they described as "troubling" pictures from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, featuring among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 photographs—a portion of which have been seen before—along with another 70 released later on Friday represent a tiny fraction of the almost 100,000 images released to the House oversight committee, which is looking into the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of apparent suicide in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking charges.
Prominent Personalities in the Images
Included in the notable figures shown in the first release are celebrities including movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin business group.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is pictured with six women, whose faces are redacted.
Administration Response
The White House addressed the release in a statement, alleging Democrats of selectively "cherry-picking" the images for electoral motives and to "seek to establish a false narrative."
"That partisan falsehood against President Trump has been consistently disproven," an administration official stated, maintaining that "the current government has accomplished more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats have at any point by frequently urging disclosure, making public reams of papers, and calling for additional probes into Epstein's Democratic associates."
Democratic Lawmaker Comment
The images were published lacking captions, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the oversight committee, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's links with affluent people.
"The moment has come to end this White House cover-up and deliver justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he said in a comment.
The disclosure of these materials comes as the oversight committee continuing its investigation into the Epstein matter.
