Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
