Automobiles in German Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human blood.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior official commented the incident left him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
