Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, declared in a official statement that the prison’s warden was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” private meetings for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the security risk and chance of unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and return them to the warden to digitize and send to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as the President's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the chief executive to deny the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche attend a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or agents have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
