Emma Raducanu ends her season and will keep trainer into the 2026 season.

Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Raducanu made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in the last two tournaments this season due to the illness she has been battling for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
