Fresh Particulars Surface Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the tragic demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
A source indicates referencing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
Additionally disputed circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
