PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
